Feminism

I always keep rattling on about what a big feminist I am but have never bothered to look into the history of the movement, how it started and other theories associated with it. So, recently when I decided to read up on it, I discovered some pretty amazing things. There are different kinds of feminists; liberal, radical, Marxist, existentialist, lesbian etc. I realized that I belonged to the second category.
I was reading an article by Shobha De today. I have always liked her ideas but this time i didn't agree with most of them. She criticized feminists saying that they ignored things like the way women are molested, raped, killed even today and talked about bigger, unrealistic stuff. Well I have to say she is wrong. You need to be conscious of the goal your fighting towards but yes, start from scratch. Yet I loved another idea which she put into my head. She wrote the although men have never given up an inch of their domination, they have forgotten that we have an ace up our sleeve. We have power over our womb which we can exploit to our advantage. Your in laws pressurizing you for dowry, threaten to abort your pregnancy. You can actually take this as far as you want.
Today, on International Women's Day, if every women realizes this then the power will truly be ours.

Homosexuality

Same sex relationships are talked about so much nowadays, that it is absolutely heart warming. Whatever one's opinion about them be, at least they aren't ignored and forced to spend their life in the shadows. But what really infuriates me is when people write off bold "couples", who wish to bring their sexuality out in the open by saying that they're just seeking attention. I mean why would they consciously want to be critiqued and abused. I totally respect such people for finally recognizing that they don’t need to be scared of such a society that isn’t too sure of itself and just passes its time by commenting on others.
When I asked my dad why people in such "queer" relationships made him feel awkward, he said it wasn't their relations, that were unacceptable, but the "unnatural" sex which they indulged in. But the thing which I couldn’t figure out was how it is unnatural. And who said that just coz a majority of the population engages in a particular kind of activity, it is natural or normal. I personally feel that these people give us hope; basically of two things-

  • When we aren't satisfied with the thought of spending our whole life in a relationship with a person of our opposite sex, we still have the comfort of turning to an intelligent and faithful being from the same sex.
There are so many times, speaking from my own experience, when I’m let down by a guy and even talking things over don't put things into place. It is then that a life with a girl seems to provide the necessary consolation.

  • Secondly, I consider homosexuals as the earth's natural condoms. It is ultimately them who are going to stop the ever growing population from booming even further. Coz if we leave it to the non thinking 'normal’ lot then the world is not going to be enough.

Anyways my/your opinion doesn't really matter. What matters is that such people exist and love it. So please, live and let live.

"GHOSTS" Does Have A Meaning N It Is........

I luved wot HENRICK IBSEN'S book talkd abt n so i named dis blog aftr it."Ghosts" here are d taboo subjects which are never discusssed n are instead suppressd(irrespective of how relevant dey are today) to such an extent dat dey repress/crush d aspirations of individuals wishin to live life(for god's sake their own damn life) on their own terms.
This blog is goin to be my venting space where i'm goin to spill out all my anger(a mild term in comparison to wot i feel) dat has been burning my insides and wishin to find its way out to eliminate all tyrants {read:teachers(but only those from school..college professors are gods),parent(always operating on stereotypes),friends(those who are so rigid in deir opinions dat u feel like swattin dem) n finally d worst of dem all..d MALE community(almost 99.9% of dem).
U know wot irritates me d most, its dat half d world doesnt hav d courage to stand up to wot dey think is right and when someone does it fer dem dey still chicken out n shut demselves in d four walls of their house..
This blog is dedicated to each n every person who fights her/his own small battles and wins against d status quo in society...
